Cacao Brownies for your Mom from Moringa Source

Mother's Day is Sunday May 14th.

She's a powerhouse who cooks, cleans and does just about everything.  Time to reward Mom with a little homemade love.

This is an easy to make recipe for a busy family looking to make Mother's Day special.  Using only three ingredients you can bake something for Mom in under 30 minutes.  Remember to use your Moringa Source Cacao for a heart healthy treat.

Ingredients

  • 3 overripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup of your preferred nut butter (almond, cashew or peanut).
  • 1/8 - 1/4 cup of Moringa Source Raw Cacao Powder. (This measurement depends on your personal preference. The more cacao powder added, the richer, more "dark-chocolate" taste your brownies will have.)

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Grease a small cake or loaf pan.
  3. In a small bowl, melt your nut butter in the microwave.
  4. Combine your melted nut butter, bananas, and cacao powder in a mixing bowl.
  5. Mix very well, making sure to mash up your bananas.
  6. Once you are done mixing, pour your mixture into your greased cake or loaf pan.
  7. Bake your brownies for about 20 minutes, or until they are cooked all the way through. You can determine this with a toothpick test.
  8. Let them cool, and enjoy! If you and your valentine can't finish the entire batch, place the leftovers in the refrigerator. They're delicious when left overnight!

So What Makes These Brownies Guilt-free?

Although it looks, smells, and tastes like chocolate, raw cacao is far more nutritional than sugar-packed cocoa from the candy store. It contains over 300 identifiable chemical compounds and is a good source of monosaturated fats, cholesterol-free saturated fats, minerals, fiber, natural carbohydrates, and protein. It contains Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B9, and E, and is actually one of the highest plant-based sources of magnesium, which is great for keeping our hearts healthy!

Additionally, Cacao contains calcium, sulfur, zinc, iron, copper, chromium, potassium, manganese, amino acids, Omega 6 fatty acids, as well as a heart-healthy fat known as oleic acid.

Cacao is also extremely high in antioxidants, which protect our cells from free radicals. It is especially high in the antioxidants resveratrol and anthocyanidin, which protect the nervous system and help the body improve deficiencies and physiological problems, respectively.

Cacao has been said to help improve not only physical health, but mental health. Studies have shown that cacao can actually raise serotonin and dopamine levels in the brain - providing feelings of happiness, contentment, and overall well-being. It also has the ability to increase our endorphins, which reduce stress and pain.

Because of their high fiber content, bananas are extremely beneficial to bowel health and digestion. They contain a specific type of fiber known as pectin, which may help regulate blood sugar levels and reduce appetite by making you feel fuller, longer. Even better? They contain very little to no fat, making them an excellent snack for those trying to lose weight!

Bananas also house various antioxidants that help keep our cells safe from damage by free radicals. Additionally, they are high in potassium and vitamin B6, which may support the metabolic system and improve heart health.
