Homemade Tomato-Turmeric Soup

Yesterday we celebrated the first day of Autumn! What better way to kickstart the chilly season than with a bowl of home-made soup? Consisting of antioxidant-rich tomatoes and immune-boosting turmeric, it's the perfect pick-me-up as the days get shorter and the air gets cooler.


Creates 4 bowls/servings of soup

  • 3/4 cup of sliced cherry tomato halves
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup of vegetable stock (preferably low-sodium)
  • 1 minced onion
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 2 teaspoons of Moringa Source Turmeric Powder
  • 1 teaspoon of Moringa Source Coconut Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of dried basil, a few fresh basil leaves for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
  • Grated Parmesan (Used as garnish. Amount depends on taste preference.)
  • Ground black pepper (Used to improve bioavailability of the turmeric. Amount depends on taste preference.)


  1. Fry your minced onion, garlic cloves, and coconut oil in a saucepan on medium heat for about 1 minute
  2. Add in your Turmeric powder and cherry tomatoes. Cook until tomatoes are soft
  3. Add canned tomatoes (do not drain), vegetabe stock, apple cider vinegar, and basil. Bring to a boil. Once boiling, cover and let simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes.
  4. Blend your soup using a mixer until it becomes creamy
  5. Add your desired amount of ground black pepper
  6. Once in your bowls, garnish each soup with a bit of Parmesan cheese and some fresh basil leaves! Enjoy!



Turmeric, most commonly known for its bright yellow color, is a plant that has been used in Chinese and Indian culture for centuries in both medicinal and culinary practices. It is a strong anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiseptic, due to its high curcumin content.

Tomatoes are high in antioxidants such as lycopene, which works to defend our cells against cancer-causing free radicals. Their high antioxidant content are what make tomatoes powerful in preventing and fighting various types of cancer such as prostate, breast, and even lung cancer.
