Load Your Plate Up With These 5 Foods For Beautiful Hair!

Who doesn't want healthy, beautiful hair? Our locks rely on certain vitamins and nutrients for strength, so healthy hair growth begins with what you are putting on your plate! Foods containing vitamin C, zinc, and beta carotene are just a few examples of the essential ingredients to a hair-healthy meal. To make it easier for you, we've listed the top 5 foods that benefit the hair and scalp so that you can make your hair stronger, and grow it longer!

1. Wild Salmon

Our hair is mostly made up of proteins like keratin, collagen, and long-chain amino acids. Wild salmon is packed with protein, so it can prevent the hair from becoming brittle or dull. It is also abundant in vitamin D, which studies have found may actually work to create new pores on the scalp, or follicles, allowing new hair to grow where it previously hadn't. Wild salmon is also rich in omega 3 fatty acids, which have anti-inflammatory properties that can help to open the hair follicles, promoting growth. A deficiency in omega 3 fatty acids usually results in hair loss or balding.

2. Yellow Bell Peppers

Vitamin C is a great antioxidant for our hair because it strengthens both the hair shaft and follicles in order to prevent damage, as well as boosts the production of collagen - a protein that makes up most of our hair and is responsible for its proper growth and structure. Yellow bell peppers have 5 & 1/2 times more vitamin C than oranges do, making them a vitamin powerhouse for our hair!

3. Oysters

Oysters are rich in an essential mineral called zinc, which is involved in the processes of both hair growth and damage repair. It has been found that a deficiency in zinc may cause hair loss and declining scalp health, so it is important to load up on it if you want to improve your mane! Oysters also offer a mineral called selenium, which encourages hair growth and reduces hair loss.

4. Egg Yolks

Eggs are a great source of Omega 3's, which as we stated above are great for stimulating new hair growth! They also contain something called biotin - a vitamin that is necessary in the process of proper hair growth - as well as vitamins A, E, and D which add shine and strength. Additionally, egg yolks offer sulfur that can fight dandruff, and beneficial protein that coats the hair follicles.

5. Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes are wonderful for hair and scalp health, as they contain something called beta carotene. Beta carotene is a nutrient that gets converted into vitamin A when we ingest it - the vitamin responsible for the growth of hair cells, preventing dandruff, and returning volume and life to dull hair.
