The Other Benefits:
Cinnamon: Cinnamon is a powerful antioxidant with strong antiviral, anti-fungal, and antibacterial properties, all of which kill harmful viruses and bacteria in the body. It's antioxidant properties surpass those of nutmeg, mint, and even ginger! It helps with lung congestion and aiding in circulation within the lungs. Cinnamon also helps to stabilize blood sugar, reduce the risk of heart disease, and studies have shown that is has the ability to slow the growth of cancer cells.
Raw Honey: Packed with beneficial flavinoids, amino acids, and immune-boosting antioxidants, raw honey is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory. It contains certain vitamins, minerals, and trace enzymes that refined honey does not. Raw honey has been found to help regulate both blood sugar and glycogen levels, aid in immune function, and help our bodies better absorb calcium. It is an all-natural energy booster, as it contains roughly 17 grams of carbohydrates per tablespoon. The best part? It's cholesterol-free, sodium-free, and fat-free! Additionally, honey is great for when you may be dealing with a cold, because it is a natural cough suppressant - In fact, a 2007 study by Penn State University found that honey is more effective in cough relief than dextromethorphan, a common ingredient in many over-the-counter cough syrups.
Rose Water: Rose water is hydrating and calming. Consuming it can improve the mood, ease tension, and calm the nerves. It has anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe an irritated throat or painful joints. It may speed up the healing process during a cold, and it also may have a bronchodilator effect that helps with respiratory illness.
